Snake and Herpetology Articles by Jack Spirko

As I continue to learn more, talk to other breeders and work with house snakes and other lesser known colubrids I am compiling a data base of articles.

I will actually be publishing them all on our House Snake Blog but you will always be able to find them here.  On the blog there will also be things like site updates, recommended resources, etc.

If you have an article you would like us to consider publishing or a topic you would like to suggest, just send me a quick email and l will be glad to consider your request.

Lamprophis Maculatus - the Dotted House SnakeLamprophis Maculatus The Dotted House Snake - Over the past few years many of the house snakes have been imported from Tanzania (specifically brown and red phases) have been marketed as Lamprophis fuliginosus.  The reality is many of them are actually Lamprophis maculatus or the "Dotted House Snake".  This article explains the difference and the "where the dots are".
